Description: The clients had been living in their new-build property for a few years and were eager to transform the bare outdoor space into a welcoming garden they could enjoy. Unsure of exactly what they wanted, they gave me full creative freedom to design a garden that would both complement the property and make the most of the available light.
With the sunniest area positioned at the far end of the garden, I created a spacious timber deck, perfect for outdoor dining and entertaining. A raised sleeper bed with an integrated bench provides built-in seating and a touch of warmth through natural materials. Flowing seamlessly from this is a curved circular lawn, softening the geometry of the plot and creating a calm focal point.
To define and balance the space, I introduced a narrow border along the wall and used slate chippings with selected planting to fill the remaining areas — combining texture, structure, and ease of maintenance. A small paved path section against the house completes the layout, providing practical access while visually linking the home to the garden.
The result is a simple yet elegant modern garden, designed for relaxed outdoor living with minimal upkeep.
